Yousuf Aftab

Yousuf is the founder and principal of Enodo Rights. He has extensive experience advising leading multinationals across sectors on strategic implementation of the Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights to navigate corporate responsibility risks, including legal, political and financial risk.

His recent engagements include: advising Debevoise & Plimpton on the launch of the unique Business Integrity Group; advising a Fortune 100 consumer products company on the design of a human rights compliance system aligned with the Guiding Principles; advising a leading oil and gas company on a human rights assessment of subsidiaries across the globe; developing guidance for the OECD on the meaning of the involvement terms under the Guiding Principles and the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises; and, conducting a public assessment of Barrick Gold’s grievance mechanism in Papua New Guinea for alignment with the Guiding Principles.

Prior to launching Enodo, Yousuf specialized in international disputes at leading law firms in Toronto and New York and served as a law clerk at the Supreme Court of Canada. Yousuf has published and presented widely on the intersection of corporate responsibility and law. He is the author of The Legal Dimension of Business and Human Rights (LexisNexis, forthcoming 2019). He is fluent in French.
