Becca Ricks is a technologist and researcher thinking about data privacy and platform accountability. As a Ford-Mozilla Open Web Fellow, her work investigates how social platforms and digital services collect, monetize, and disclose data about their users, and she builds tools to promote transparency online. Becca is based at Human Rights Watch, where she researches encryption and digital security. Previously, she worked as a design technologist at various tech companies. Becca holds a master’s degree from NYU.
