Anna Banchik is a PhD Candidate in Sociology at the University of Texas at Austin with interdisciplinary interests at the intersection of science and technology studies, visual culture, knowledge production, and social movements. Her dissertation examines how online open-source investigations are being applied to human rights fact-finding, advocacy, and litigation, and is based on a year-long ethnographic study of the Human Rights Investigations Lab at the Human Rights Center at UC Berkeley. Anna is a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellow, a Fulbright Scholar, and a Graduate Affiliate and Editorial Committee Member of the Rapoport Center for Human Rights and Justice at UT Austin.
